HEADLINE: Los Angeles Puts $100 Million Into Helping Homeless

REAL TALK:  Actually Mayor Garcetti and the Los Angeles City Council so far have approved $13 Million to be used for immediate housing, additional shelters and to hire personnel to canvas the streets of LA – ‘Skid Row’ in particular, to work with the homeless to connect them to services and benefits.  Keep up the good work.  One question though:  Given all of the local government approved (& maybe financed?) new construction in Downtown Los Angeles for Business and Entertainment, yet there is still a large number of vacant, abandoned buildings Downtown, what initiative does Mayor Garcetti and the LA City Council have to develop that vacant property into housing for the homeless?  And if none, why not?

Please post your thoughts; they matter ~
